Website Scorecard
Jan 20
After sneak peeking Microsoft’s new website yesterday, I decided to create this card for scoring website design:

Here’s breakdown of each section:
- Style – Does the website attract or repel?
- Branding – Is the company recognizable? Is the purpose of the website clear?
- Navigation - Is getting to what’s needed simple by drilling or search?
- Readability – Is the content confusing to read, cluttered or is multimedia misleading?
- Typography – Is the text boring or does it empower?
- Volume - Does the amount of text leave more questions than answers, or totally overwhelm?
- Site Speed – Slow servers or slow web experiences can damage company brand.
- Shareability - Is it worth sharing? Is there a simple way to share quickly?
- Security – Nobody likes SPAM, expired SSL certificates and difficult form submissions.
- Cross Browser – Does the same message get across in multiple browsers, or is the CSS jacked?
We think about these things all the time, but here’s an organized approach to properly communicating your comments to web designers. As you guessed, scoring each from 0 to 10, the total adds to 100.
